The activity of EMENASA goes back to 1956, year when a small repair workshop is created in the heart of the fishing port of Vigo. At the time, EMENASA deals and offers different technical solutions to the local owners of fishing vessels while a modernisation of the fleet of vessels takes place.
Over the years, adapting to the changes in the marine market and embracing new challenges, EMENASA enters new markets such as shipyards and big shipping companies, and new sectors as the wind and hydroelectric energy sector. This way, new companies are born which will later on consolidate GRUPO EMENASA.

A small workshop is created in the heart of the fishing port of Vigo, this way EMENASA Electromecánica Naval e Industrial S.A is born. In the early years, EMENASA mainly deals with the repair of electric machines and small electric installations.
The electric machine repair works increase and EMENASA enters the wind power and hydroelectric sector. In 1978 EMENASA reaches an agreement with the company Contrucciones Electromecánicas Indar (Indar Electric, S.L.), and becomes official distributor of the firm.
The development of the marine market and the fast growth of the company, forces EMENASA to move to bigger facilities, equipped with more and improved means.
The significant retrofit of the trawler fleet in the late 1980´s in Vigo and the increasing demand of EMENASA´s activity, forces the company to seek for technical backup. This way, in 1998 PDI Beiramar is created, an engineering company in charge of the elaboration of electric projects, and to provide technical support to EMENASA.
EMENASA becomes a marine electric installer reference company in the north of Spain thanks to the technical backup provided by its engineering company. EMENASA starts offering electric turnkey electric solutions, and performing installation works in big vessels such as ferries, LNG carriers, research vessels and OSV.
The continuous growth of the activities of repair and maintenance of electric machines forces EMENASA to duplicate the size of its facilities. A new warehouse equipped with the latest production means is inaugurated in 2015.
The latest company to join GRUPO EMENASA is EMENASA INDUSTRIA Y AUTOMATISMO S.A., which runs all the land-based installations, industrial automation and robotics, thanks to a wide team of highly experienced professionals.
